Songs From Another Room is a musical odyssey, with lonesome songwriters, gifted videomakers and a bunch of passionate people: unpublished tracks by indie pop avant-garde, illustrated by original videoclips will find their final destination on a superb collector box set.
Young association Cat(s)fight joined forces with Microcultures so that you can make this project a reality. Order the box set in advance, host a gig at home, make a journey... to a room in Tennessee. And make all this happen.
R. Stevie Moore is a genius singer, composer and multi-instrumentalist who recorded about 400 home-made albums since 1968. Doubtless to say, he’s a home recording pioneer and a fierce DIY enthusiast. R. Stevie Moore is a reference for many artists, and works with Jad Fair, David Shrigley, Ariel Pink… We’re proud that he accepted to patron the “Songs from Another Room” compilation.

Benjamin Løzninger likes to cover his tracks : born in Toronto, he’s been adopted by the Dijon, where his family brought him up in a artistic twirl. Creator of the mysterious Oslø Telescopic collective band, he will make you shiver with his Britney Spears or Elliott Smith covers. As Elektrisk Gønner he will turn the heat on in any venue while as Løzninger he will lead you very far away with the delighting dizziness and melancholy of his songs.

Guaranteed change of scenery with this evocative melting-pot.With a catch in his voice and standing firmly on a post-punk basis, the eccentric Spanish puts on battered and catchy electronic compositions.

The word A. P. Witomski began to spread last winter with a few EP. A few devilishly electric gigs later, his reputation as an “hors pair electro-pop melodist, letting the 80s gown flutter loosely” (magicrpm) was confirmed. But behind those mysterious initials hides a young physicist from Grenoble, France, who is little by little abandoning his guitars to dive deeper and deeper into the twists and turns of an elegiac electro pop.

“Pandoraski” Zenith October EP
Originally composed of unique 8-bits smithereens, Les Filles Et Les Garçons took a new turn when its creator discovered the new possibilities provided by computer generated music. The young man from Toulouse, France, decked himself out in peculiar rags to complete his electronic metamorphosis. Thus, his first EP oustriped styles and launched an uninhibited and innovative pop music, with a slightly disenchanted crooner tone.

Saying that Federico Pellegrini, French Cowboy leader, is a character, is an understatement. After seven records with legendary indie pop combo, The Little Rabbits, the unstoppable frontman started a brand new adventure with the same people involved, more or less. Since 2006, the man built his reputation with numerous collaborations, a couple of feverish records and a unique live energy. We’re in awe to have him as a “godfather” for this project. Awesome Cowboy.

Very well known in the Kütu Folk label family, St. Augustine is the lonesome project for François-Régis Croisier, a French songwriter mastering the art of folk handcrafting since 2005. Decades of acoustic lo-fi find their legacy in his music, with these tunes reaching the highest effects with limited ressources. When he's not leading his band A Classic Education, Canadian-Italian Jonathan Clancy nurtures a dreamy and solitary lo-fi project. Available mostly on tapes, his recordings, where acoustic guitars and larsens go along, brought an underground glory to His Clancyness, among well advised ears. Long live to the king.

“Like A Champ” What Fury Can't Say / Like A Champ 7"
Cat(s)fight's co-founder takes pictures, shoots, draws, cuts, designs, edits, thinks things up... including these beautiful Songs From Another Room. Brought to video through documentary filmmaking after a detour by political sciences, Maéva is also a curious, self-taught and passionate person who puts her sensibility and personal touch to more and more original works.
After a first videoclip during spring 2011, she continues this experience with several videoclips in this compilation.

Trained in Strasbourg's Arts Décos, Benjamin Stasola puts together his first videoclips in Hi8 within the video workshop where he spends most of his time. Then, as a graphist, he embarks the adventure of Super! and creates the visual identity of the "musical odyssey agency". His trips around the world gives him the occasion to build up a photographic diary imbued with melancholy and colors.
In 2011, he directs Elektrisk Gønner's “Uknowwhatiwant” videoclip, arousing the Internet.
Stasolab
Julie Verger first studied art history and museology, before exploring different currents of documentary filmmaking. In a social vein, she films trees tumbling and men standing. In a more experimental mood, she lets her imagination run free, works on repetitive patterns, filmic material, color effects... It's this last aspect that Julie reveals in the R. Stevie Moore's song videoclip.

At the least discreet and almost elliptic, Mathieu conceived and designed this webpage, the CD/DVD box set and the limited edition. A professional landscape architect, passionate about cartography, attentive to details, he developed a precise and dense sketching technique. Mathieu matured the visual identity of these Songs From Another Room with a rare perfectionism. This project wouldn't be the same without him.
